Pulse Atelier

The rooms.

Four quiet spaces on one floor. You will not be wheeled anywhere. You will not be given a number.

The studio is a second-floor tenancy in a small building. Other people work in the building. They are not part of Pulse Atelier, and we are not a department of anyone else. The door you want is ours. Inside, the rooms are few, and they are shown here empty, which is how they look at the start of the day.

A short empty corridor with pale walls, a stone floor, and one closed wooden door.
The corridor is only a few steps. There is no signage to follow.

You come off the stair into a short passage. The treatment room is the door on the right. We do not label it with a specialism, because we do not have one in the medical sense. Laser hair reduction and cosmetic skin care happen in the same calm room, at different hours, with the linen changed between them. The bed is the one on the first page. The handpiece, when it is out, is covered again as soon as the hour is over.

A small white ceramic sink and a simple metal tap in soft daylight, with a folded towel beside it.
The wash, for hands and for a rinse. Not a clinical bay.

The sink is for ordinary washing. Please do not use it to shave on the way in. A nick from a hurried blade is one of the small reasons an hour is postponed, and the washroom is not equipped as a place to prepare skin. Towels are stacked and plain. If you need a glass of water, ask. There is no gown with a logo, and no tray of instruments you are meant to understand.

An empty reception chair upholstered in warm stone linen against a plaster wall.
One chair, for the person who is early, or for a companion who is not coming into the room.

If you are early, sit. The chair is the waiting room. We do not run a queue, and we do not double-book the hour so that someone is always in that seat. A companion may wait here. They do not come into the consultation unless you ask, and even then the note of what you tell us stays with the studio, not with the person in the passage. Saturday there is no one in the chair at all. The building is quiet, and our door is locked.

A small green plant in a clay pot beside a shallow stone bowl on a limestone sill.
A plant and a stone bowl on the sill. The bowl is empty. It is not equipment.

The sill gets the afternoon light, which is pleasant and also the reason we talk so much about the sun you had before you arrived. In July the plant needs water twice as often and the appointments need more gaps. Both facts are part of keeping a small room honest. If you want the names of the people who work here, and the way to find the stair, they are on House.
